After careful consideration of recent developments in the Covid-19 situation and current international travel restrictions, the Greek Yachting Association, in coordination with the Municipality of Nafplion, has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Mediterranean Yacht Show that was set to take place from the 22nd to the 25th of April at the port of Nafplion.

The annual MEDYS is always highly anticipated by the international yachting community but we felt that this was the best way to proceed in order to ensure that everyone associated with the event was kept out of harm’s way. The health and safety of charter brokers & managers, yacht crew, exhibitors, press as well as the highly involved surrounding community, is always our first and foremost priority.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly as the MEDYS is an event that helps to high-light the unique nature of yachting in Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean and provides an important business tool for our industry.

We would like to express our appreciation for your support and understanding, and assure you that GYA will continue to present new ways for you to discover the many advantages that Greek yachting has to offer. In the meantime, the Virtual Charter Yacht Show is on air and provides a glimpse of some of the finest vessels to grace the Greek seas through a series of in-depth video-tours.

That being said, we would like to end on a positive note: chartering a superyacht is still one of the safest ways to enjoy a vacation. It offers the opportunity of relaxing in a controlled environment – with strict hygiene regimes and cleaning protocols in place - and minimizing your time ashore in public areas where risks naturally increase. So, while this may not be a time for “business as usual”, we remain confident that yacht charters will remain an exceptional holiday option and will move in an upward trajectory as we adjust and adapt to the times.

We hope that we will be able to meet again, soon and face-to-face, in the welcoming port of Nafplion.
